We all know how hard it is to find good quality clothing for children without breaking your bank. My kids are constantly growing and playing outside which means they are also constantly changing their outfit.
I have spent money on super cute trendy clothes only to have them outgrow them a month later! This has led to me compiling this checklist when purchasing clothing for them.
1. Versatility
Other than the occasional special event, I tend to search for pieces that can be versatile and paired well with multiple things. My daughter is almost 4 and loves to get dressed herself and choose her own clothes each day.
I tend to purchase things that she could match herself and not look crazy when we leave the house. It cultivates her independence and I get to pick my battles.
2. Quality
There have been many times where I have given into purchasing cute and cheap kid’s clothing on impulse, only to be disappointed when there is a hole in it after one wash.
Now I know better and choose clothing whose quality I can trust. Many times that means paying a little bit more, but knowing it will pay off over time.
3. Customer Reviews
Kid’s clothing sizes can vary from brand to brand. If I am not able to look at the clothing in person, I rely on the reviews to tell me if the article is true-to-size. This usually means I stick to the brands I can trust and the retailers who have excellent return policies.
Conclusion
I want my kids to look stylish, but because of how fast they are growing I know they will only be able to wear them for a short time. By checking for these three things when shopping, I am able to make smart and easy decisions.
Obviously, there are exceptions to every rule. But these points help stretch my budget further. What do you look for when you are buying kid’s clothing?
