Timeless Fashion: How to make a lasting impact and impression with your own outfit style (2022)

Post Audio

If you look through old pictures, you can pretty much tell when the photos were taken. Art and style can be seen through the ages.

Looking at the fashion trends of the 70’s, 80’s and 90’s, you can see a big difference in clothing.

Timeless fashion can basically be defined as classic fashion whose purpose is to remain on trend, or be trendless, and never goes out of fashion.

This is the eternal look we all hope to achieve. The iconic appearance designed to last.

That still applies today.

One of the sure ways to remain relevant is to remain with the classics.

Here are a few tips on keep that everlasting look.

1. Picking outfits that have a timeless or classic look to them.

If you want an outfit with a look that will last a long time, choose something that has endured the test of time. (Think of normal white t-shirts or long dresses).

Fashion trends do tend to come around and vanish in a blink of an eye, some essential outfits will never get old.

2. Comfortable clothes that fit you nicely.

I have run into this problem when I have clothes that just don’t look good or fit me well.

It can be from several reasons (the style, a little extra pounds, they shrunk, etc).

Some fashion styles many ups and downs that don’t fit you well or look a little off, they more than likely won’t last.

I would recommend not spending a lot of money on those looks to fit in for a few months or however long the trend lasts.

If you buy an expensive outfit, get it adjusted and fixed to your measurements at a tailor.

You will thank yourself later, years later even, because you will fit just right in the outfit.

You will want to aim for that sweet spot of not too loose or not too tight.

Skinny jeans for a fashion trend for a while and now we have shifted to much looser pants again.

3. Minimalize your outfit combos with simplicity

If you look at a black and white picture of Elvis or Marilyn Monroe, it can be hard determining what year that was taken.

Some of those old pictures look brand new.

That is because they have a minimalist approach to their design.

Simplicity is key.

They do not try too hard and neither should you.

Own your look and make it your own signature appearance.

Trying to add gaudy pieces to your outfit will look tacky when you look back on those pictures and sets you up as a bit pretentious.

This will help your style last, and it will also help conserve money over time.

If you can make the pieces last year over year, you will have a truly eternal style.

4. Be conscious of passing fads and trends

Remember to be aware of what is popular right now and see if they were popular previously in the past.

If they weren’t, that means they may not last very long or won’t come back again.

Those big round glasses and sunglasses that took up most of your head and looked like fly eyes from the 70’s eventually came back into style in the 2000’s and now we have some weird morph combination that is style relatively popular.

Don’t forget to evaluate what is “in” or “out” right now and make a judgment call on if it will last.

You more than likely will know if those pleated pants will be a big hit again.

So stick close to the classic trends that are eternal because they have stood the test of time.

Besides, won’t it be awesome when you look at pictures in 10-20 years and you still look the same and fit in with everyone else?
